At
Abrasive Dimensions, we strive
to make working with us as easy
as possible, so we offer the following
general design suggestions and
basic F.A.Q. information.
|
General
Design Guide
Customer
should provide 2D
CAD data of parts
in .DXF or .DWG
format, drawn to
scale (1:1).
Provide
a detailed part
print (for quality
control).
Customer
should include
tolerance on all
your part prints.
To
reduce part cost,
avoid sharp corners
on parts. Sharp
corners require
additional machining
time to produce.
Any
2 demensional shape
can be cut.
Smallest
hole diameter that
can be cut is 0.030"
(0.762mm). Thicker
materials will require
slightly larger
minimum hole diameters.
Surface
finish is determined
by the cut rate.
A faster cut rate
produces a rough
surface finish &
a low tolerance
while a slower cut
rate produces a
smooth surface finish
and high tolerance.
Water
jet cutting is also
a good way to locate
and cut holes for
secondary operations
like tapping and
reaming.
Water
jet cutting is a
cost effective way
to rough out or
create a near net
shape part for use
in another process. |
